Phishing

A phoney message to emailers asking them to "Update Your Billing Information" was the top phishing scam for July. The three most common hoax messages intercepted by security firm McAfee last month all concerned billing or payment information. Other noticeable scams in McAfee's top 10 for July sought to exploit customers of Google Adwords. One message read: "Your AdWords Google Account is stopped". Adwords is a service which lets website owners place pay-per-click Google ads on their website. Abbey was also a top target for phishing scams, with 37 per cent of scams using brand names involving the high-street bank. www.avertlabs.com
