Brits are less judgemental about personal material posted online than the French, Americans, Germans or Spaniards, according to a survey.
Research from web host 1&1 Internet found that 76 per cent of Americans and 75 per cent of Germans judge people on the strength the personal photographs, blogs and social networking pages.
However, only 46 per cent of Brits would make judgements on that basis, according to the survey of 5,000 people from the five different nations.
Oliver Mauss, chief executive of 1&1 Internet said: "Whilst clearly engaged with the issue of their own online identity, Britons are impressively open-minded when it comes to seeing others online."
Brits aren't as good at forging friendships online as their international counterparts, though.
Only one in 10 of the UK respondents said they had made three or more good friends online, compared to a third of Americans, a third of Germans, 30 per cent of French respondents, and 29 per cent of Spaniards.
"Perhaps Britain's rather detached view of online material may sometimes lead Britons to miss out on forging valuable online friendships," Mauss said.
