Apple releases iPhone fix

Apple has released a firmware fix but hasn't specified which bugs it is targeted at.

The iPhone could stifle innovation, an academic has claimed

Apple has released a software update aimed at fixing bugs in the new 3G iPhone.

The company has not specified exactly what problem the update is meant to solve, other than releasing a short statement saying it will "fix bugs".

Update 2.0.2 is available to download via iTunes and weighs in at 249MB.

Blogs have been buzzing since the release of the 3G iPhone with complaints about poor 3G reception, which makes surfing the web on the move a slow experience.

Meanwhile, other blog reports claimed that Apple chief executive Steve Jobs had said the problems affected just two per cent of 3G iPhone users - around 60,000 people.

The latest firmware fix comes only two weeks after the release of iPhone OS 2.0.1.
