Apple launch rumours abound

Apple has revealed that it will be making an announcement next week about a new product or service - though precisely what it will be isn't certain.

Apple rumours

Apple will be making an announcement on Tuesday 9 September and online rumours abound as to what it might involve.

The company is typically very secretive about its new products as it aims to maximise the 'wow' factor when the news is finally released.

However, there is a large network of websites that does little else other than speculate as to what Apple's next move might be.

Some have previously got themselves into legal trouble with the company after revealing inside information.

The invite to Tuesday's event is headed 'Let's Rock' and features an iTunes-like image of a man listening to an iPod (pictured).

This would seem to support some theories that it will be about a slimline iPod Nano, or perhaps a new version of iTunes.

Other speculators have said that the announcement could be about solid-state hard drives being introduced throughout the MacBook range.

Another idea is that Apple could be about to launch a small, sub-£200 laptop, similar to the Asus Eee PC and Acer Aspire One.

A touchscreen laptop is another possibility. However, no official information will be available until 1800BST on 9 September.

Web User will be attending the launch event and will post an update here as soon as possible.
