Watch Seinfeld in Microsoft ad

Microsoft has unveiled a new ad starring comedian Jerry Seinfeld alongside former chairman Bill Gates for 'edible' computers.

Microsoft's new advert starring comedian Jerry Seinfeld and co-founder Bill Gates aired on US television last night and while it is likely to make a big splash on YouTube it has left most viewers baffled.

The minute-and-a-half commercial shot in a shoe store is completely devoid of any mention of the Windows operating system.

The only mention of Microsoft is when Seinfeld turns to Gates and asks: "Are they (Microsoft) ever going to come with something that will make our computers moist and chewy like cake so we can eat them while we are working?"

The short advert ends with the word 'delicious' followed by the Microsoft logo.

The advert is reminiscent of Seinfeld's eponymous cult comedy show, which was to all intents and purposes a show about nothing, albeit a hugely popular one.

This is the first commercial of many featuring the new comedy duo to be aired over the Autumn.

However, the reaction online has been largely negative. "Microsoft paid millions to have Jerry... it was better if they invested all these money to FIX some bugs of Vista OS," wrote one person on YouTube.

Another one wrote: "Never seen a more nothing-at-all-saying video... it's not even a commercial."
