What's hot on the web: 9/11

Barack Obama and John McCain will lay a wreath at Ground Zero to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the US in September 2001.

Google

The web is today awash with searches for information about the tragic events that unfolded seven years ago as the US commemorates the anniversary of the terrorist attacks on New York.

September 11, 9/11 and Twin Towers are all among today's most popular search terms, according to Google Trends.

Several events to mark the anniversary will be taking place including a ceremony at Ground Zero which will be attended by Barack Obama and John McCain, who will lay a wreath together.

The two campaigns have promised not to run any ads today and on the request of New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg, neither will address the crowds.

In other web news, Hugh Hefner's relationship with Holly Madison is under scrutiny, with rumours circulating that the couple are about to break up.

Madison has denied the rumours on her MySpace page.
