Sales of games consoles fall

Sales of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 console are dropping fast in America, as consumers tighten their belts.

Microsoft slashes price of Xbox 360!!

According to figures from market researchers NPD, Microsoft sold 195,200 Xbox 360 consoles in August, down from 205,000 in July.

Sony sold 185,400 PS3 consoles, down from 225,000 in July and 405,500 in June.

However, Sony's PlayStation 2 still sells reasonably well, shifting 144,100 consoles in August - only 41,300 fewer than its successor the PS3.

Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles are being massively outsold by Nintendo's Wii, which sold 453,000 in August.
