Yahoo has dispatched 20 customised 'Flickr bikes' across the world as part of its new Purple Pedals project.
Each bike is equipped with an Nokia N95 cameraphone that captures a photo every 60 seconds while the vehicle is in motion and uploads the picture to a Flickr account.
Snaps are tagged with information about where they were taken so the bike's journey can be displayed and followed on a Yahoo map.
The purple Electra bikes are being sent to cities in a variety of countries, including the UK, Denmark, Singapore, Australia and Japan, and are already touring New York, San Diego and San Francisco.
According to Yahoo the idea is to "chronicle the life of a bike", as well as to promote its Start Wearing Purple promotional campaign.
You can watch videos explaining the concept behind the project, how the bikes were designed, and where they are now at the Purple Pedals website.
