Brad Pitt is now the 'most-dangerous' celebrity to search for, according to research by internet security company McAfee.

If you search for 'Brad Pitt', 'Brad Pitt downloads', and Brad Pitt wallpaper, screensavers and pictures you have an 18 per cent chance of being attacked by spyware, spam, phishing, adware, viruses and other malware.

Last year's most-dangerous celebrity, Paris Hilton, has fallen straight out of the top 15 list.

Cybercriminals are increasingly using names and images of big stars like Beyoncé (second most-dangerous) and Justin Timberlake (third most-dangerous), to lure gossip-hungry web users.

Their strategy is to trick fans of celebrities with screensavers and sites that look legitimate, but are fake and malicious.

"Cybercriminals employ numerous methods, yet one of the simplest but most effective ways is to trick consumers into infecting themselves by capitalising on Americans’ interest in celebrity gossip," said McAfee's Jeff Green.
