Web drama searches for stars

If you fancy yourself as a soap opera star Chalkhill is holding auditions over the next month for new roles in the web drama.

Web User: Internet drama Chalkhill looking for stars

Chalkhill, the tri-weekly internet soap opera set in Portsmouth, is to hold auditions as part of an expansion plan.

The show has been running on the net since 2004 and bills itself as "the web's first internet soap".

Beginning next year the new series of the drama will be shown on leading websites, challenging broadcast soap operas according to production company SS Films.

Set in the fictional community of Chalkhill in Portsmouth, the drama, like traditional soaps, focuses on the lives of different families.

There's the usual mix of brutish fathers, unruly teenagers, widows and wives trapped in loveless marriages.

Filming for the new series starts in early 2009. Viewers can suggest storylines, taking events from their own lives. Auditions will take place across the south coast from now up until November.
