Apple announces new MacBooks

Apple has announced a new range of laptops including a low-cost MacBook. Two new configurations of the ultra-light MacBook Air were also announced. The company made the announcement at its Californian headquarters today after sending US journalists an invitation that hinted at a new laptop range. Apple is notoriously secretive about its product launches though it seems a number of leaks blew the lid off today's announcement. Firstly, a picture emerged from a factory in China which seemed to show a new casing for the MacBook Pro, Apple's high-end laptop. Then, even more worryingly for Apple, repair guides relating to the as-yet unlaunched laptops appeared on the web. A price list supplied to Best Buy, a US retailer, also found its way onto the web.
