iPlayer comes to Sky Player

The BBC and Sky have announced that the iPlayer service will now be available through Sky Player.

Users of Sky Player, Sky's online TV service, can now access programmes on the BBC's iPlayer.

The latest Sky Player now contains a number of BBC branded sections that contain information and links to all iPlayer programming.

iPlayer is already available through Virgin Media's TV package and the move is consistent with the BBC's plan to make iPlayer accessible to as many people as possible.

Anthony Rose, head of the Online Media Group at the BBC, said: "We are delighted to be able to offer access to BBC TV programmes to Sky Player users.

"This deal further underlines our commitment to reaching new audiences by making BBC iPlayer available on as many services as possible," Rose continued.

According to the BBC, 400 hours of programming is made available on the iPlayer every week and more than 180 million shows have been viewed since it was officially launched on Christmas Day 2007.
