PSP firmware updated again

Just days after releasing version 5.00 of the firmware for the PlayStation Portable, Sony has had to issue a further fix.

Sony has released version 5.01 of the firmware for the PlayStation Portable gaming device.

The new PSP firmware fixes a bug in version 5.00 which affected the Memory Stick Duo. Version 5.00 was only released this time last week.

8GB and 16GB versions of Sony's proprietary storage cards were not being read properly by the PSP and telling gamers that there wasn't enough free space to store downloaded files even when there was.

The problem was not an existing one in the PSP, rather it was caused by version 5.00 of the firmware. Version 5.01 should fix this problem, according to Sony.
