BlackBerry Storm arrives

Vodafone is now taking pre-orders for the BlackBerry Storm, the first mobile phone to have a 'clickable' touchscreen.

The new touchscreen BlackBerry Storm is now available to pre-order from Vodafone.

You will be able to get the Storm 9500 for free on a two-year contract at £35 per month with a plan that includes 600 minutes talktime and unlimited texts.

Unlike many previous BlackBerry phones, the Storm is intended for the consumer market as well as businesses.

The touchscreen on the Storm will depress when pushed firmly, so you know that the phone has actually reacted to your input, and will let you highlight and copy text.

The phone also has an accelerometer, which detects which way up it is and displays the screen in portrait or landscape mode as appropriate.

There is 1GB of built-in storage with a slot for microSD and SDHD memory cards and a 3.2-megapixel digital camera.

"Today's announcement brings the power of the BlackBerry Storm 9500 exclusively available on Vodafone, directly into the hands of our customers – whether they are consumers or business executives," said Nick Read of Vodafone UK.
