The petition to reinstate Laura White on reality TV show X-Factor has gained nearly 20,000 signatures since yesterday.
X-Factor petition approaches 50,000
As Web User reported, angry fans of White had complained that telephone lines for the show were blocked and began a petition to support her.
Judge Louis Walsh has since denied in The Sun newspaper that his vote was tactical.
Cheryl Cole, White's mentor on the show, had previously suggested that Walsh was uncomfortable with White still being in the competition as she posed a threat to JLS, the band mentored by Walsh.
Meanwhile, traffic-monitoring service Hitwise has predicted that Diana Vickers will win the contest.
Hitwise claims that as these shows are "essentially popularity contests", the contestant that receives the most search traffic is likely to win.
"Diana Vickers is currently the most searched for contestant, last week receiving almost twice as many searches as her nearest rivals, JLS," said Hitwise's Robin Goad.
Fans of the show can play an X-Factor game called Which X-Factor Judge Are You at the What's on TV website.
