TalkTalk announces flexible broadband

TalkTalk has announced details of a new package that will let customers build their own broadband and phone packages.

Web User: TalkTalk to introduce new TalkTalk broadband package

TalkTalk, the internet service provider (ISP), has announced a new customisable broadband package, called myTalkTalk.

The service, which will be launched on 18 November, comes with a basic essentials package for £6.49 per month plus £10.50 line rental.

Included in this is a 40GB monthly download with up to 8Mbps download speeds. The minimum contract length is 18 months and there are no introductory offers or reductions.

Unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines as well as international land line calls to 36 destinations and a free wireless router come with the essentials package.

In addition to this myTalkTalk comes with a range of flexible 'Boost' options, which customers can add to the basic service for £4 per month.

The company says that this initiative tears up the one-size-fits all approach to delivering broadband, instead letting the customer build their own home and phone broadband package.

The six Boosts, which can be purchased on a month-by-month basis, include Download Plus, which increases the monthly download limit to 80GB.

Also included are two phone Boosts: Anytime Calls allows for unlimited landline calls, and with Half-Price Mobile Calls there's a 50 per cent discount when phoning mobiles.

Security, speed and call features make up the remaining Boosts.

"People's communication needs are constantly changing and we need to provide a phone and broadband service that reflects this," said Wendy Becker, managing director of TalkTalk.

Michael Phillips of comparison website BroadbandChoices welcomed TalkTalk's innovative new service:"It allows customers the flexibility of building a home phone and broadband package tailored to their specific needs."

Phillips added that being able to pick and choose services to match broadband usage "without being contractually tied-in is a positive change from the norm."

myTalkTalk is open to new and existing customers, but for new customers there will be a one-off connection fee of £29.99.
