Google launches SearchWiki

Google has launched SearchWiki, a tool that will let you take better control of your search results, the company claims.

When you conduct a search while signed into a Google account, you will now be able to re-rank, delete and comment on the results presented to you.

Small icons will let you promote a result up the rankings, delete it from the list or post your comment. At the bottom of a search results page, you'll find the facility to help you add a result.

SearchWiki will then remember the edits you have made and adjust future searches accordingly. The changes you make will only affect your own search results.

"We've always said that the best search engine is the one that understands what the individual user wants," said Juergen Galler, director of Product Management at Google.

"SearchWiki really puts that in action: this is an even deeper level of customisation than we've offered before, because people know best what search results they're looking for," Galler continued.
