The temporary shutdown for maintenance of Yahoo Answers, a service that lets surfers ask and answer questions, has sparked anger.
Yahoo Answers went offline at 0830GMT this morning, though the site is now up and running again. The site was also down for maintenance earlier in the week.
Surfers angry with the outages have flooded the Comments section of the Yahoo Answers blog.
"I think this is so annoying! This is like the second time I have been on this week while Yahoo was doing maintenance! How many 'breathers' do you need to take?" one wrote.
One UK-based surfer bemoaned the time that Yahoo chose to undertake the maintenance.
"They always do this when the English are awake and the Americans are asleep! It's not fair!" the comment reads.
Others took the opportunity to point out some of the features that needed attention.
"When can we have quick access to our favorite categories as promised a long time ago?" one Yahoo Answers user asked.
But other posts berate those complaining about what is a free service.
"Ummm, why do you get angry at something you don’t even pay for? This is for fun, not life and death," one comment reads.
UPDATE: Yahoo has issued a statement in response to the comments about the closure of Yahoo Answers.
"We can see from your hundreds of passionate comments on our blogs worldwide that you are all fond of the site and there are even a few Answerholics amongst you, so we’re sorry we had to deprive you of your favourite site for a few hours," it reads.
"But please trust us when we say the work was essential and will make Answers stronger and healthier from now on," the statement continued.
