Watch BBC live online

From today you can watch all the BBC's programmes live on the internet on its respective online channels.

New-look iPlayer

BBC started live streaming of its programmes over the internet today, opening up daytime television to workers all over the country.

Digital channels BBC Three and BBC Four had already been available online. Today the BBC completed the picture by adding BBC One and BBC Two.

There were some problems accessing iPlayer earlier today due to a busy server, but regular service has resumed.

A television licence is required to watch live coverage online, "irrespective of what device you are using – television, computer, laptop, mobile phone or any other – and how you receive programmes, whether by satellite, cable, via the internet or any other way," according to TV Licensing.

Michael Phillips of BroadbandChoices.co.uk welcomed BBC's decision to stream all its content live, but said the broadcaster has a responsibility to inform users of how it will impact on the limits of their broadband contracts.

"We are concerned that the wider public may not be sufficiently aware of the broadband usage caps and fair usage policies they may fall foul of when using this new service," Phillips said.
