YouTube starts online orchestra

YouTube is calling on musicians to audition for what it says is the world's first online symphony orchestra.

YouTube is calling on musicians to submit audition videos as it starts to build the world's first online orchestra. From today until 28 January 2009, YouTube will be accepting entries for "the internet symphony". The winners, who will be chosen by the YouTube community, will be flown to Carnegie Hall in New York to play at a three-day classical music summit. The contest revolves around performing a piece of music commissioned by YouTube and composed by Tan Dun, an Oscar and Grammy award winner for his music for the movies Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Hero. Musicians are asked to submit an interpretation of Dun's score, played on any instrument they like. The sheet music is available on YouTube's symphony website. http://uk.youtube.com/symphony Save up to £16 a year this Christmas when you subscribe to Web User!
