Bid for chance to slap man with fish

Sweemo.com is running an online auction in which the prize is to whack its chief executive around the face with a salmon.

Publicity stunts don't come much stranger than this: an online auction in which the prize is to slap a man around the face with a 7kg salmon. Next week one 'lucky' bidder will get the opportunity to slap Jay Nguyen, chief executive of Sweemo.com, an online marketplace. The top bid currently stands at £209 with two days before the auction expires. "Who hasn’t ever wanted to slap someone in the face with a fish? The irritating co-worker, the smug traffic warden," Nguyen said. "I am giving people the opportunity to take out some of life’s little injustices on me. If it helps publicise the site then I say fair dinkum," he continued. Nguyen said that his research revealed that the 7kg salmon is "the perfect slapping fish; providing good grip around the tail area, with meaty, slippery sides for that all-important 'thwack' noise". Sweemo, short for 'sweet moments' was launched earlier this year. It sells unique experiences in the form of auctions. Current Sweemo auctions include a chance to spend an evening partying with Playboy bunnies. The fish slapping event will take place on 17 December in Trafalgar Square, London and Web User will be in attendance to capture the scaly event. Money raised from the auction will go to the Marine Conservation Society. Is Nguyen mad as a hatter?
