iPlayer, Facebook top 2008 searches

Google's annual report on the UK's top search terms has been released, with Facebook the most searched-for term for 2008.
However, the fastest rising search term was iPlayer, with the iPhone and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Cern also figuring in the fastest-rising search term category.

In terms of 'popular politicians', Gordon Brown was top of the list, with President-elect Barack Obama coming in at number three.
Unsurprisingly, the top finance-related search was for Icesave, with Martyn Lewis's MoneySavingExpert website also featuring in the top 10.
Recipe searches were also ranked by Google, with cupcakes coming out on top, followed by meatballs.

Entertainment-wise, the hottest tickets of the year were for Oasis, Leonard Cohen, AC/DC and the Ashes tests with Nickleback also mysteriously appearing in the top 10.
