Stikkit set to shut down

Sitkkit users have a week to export their data from the online-organising service before it closes on 19 December.

Web User: Stikkit to go offline

Stikkit, the free online-organiser service, has announced that it will go offline on 19 December.

The service lets you organise contacts, send emails and collaborate on projects.

Twitter, the instant-notification system has acquired the intellectual rights to Sittkit and its sister company I Want Sandy, a personal email assistant.

"While Twitter has no immediate plans to incorporate Sandy or Stikkit's feature sets into its core product, those who know our apps well may notice familiar-feeling bits and bobs appearing in your Twitter experience," said Rael Dornfest, chief executive of the Value of n, parent company of the two websites.

Stikkit follows in the footsteps of micro-blogging website Pownce, which also ceased operating this month. Pownce was bought out by Six Apart, a high-profile web 2.0 company.

Anyone who has an account with Stikkit has until 19 December to export their data. After that, the Stikkit website will be offline and all users' data will be permanently deleted, the company said.
