Watch Sydney 2009 New Year fireworks

You can watch the Sydney 2009 New Year fireworks display at the BBC News site.

The dazzling pyrotechnic display was launched from six barges around Sydney Harbour.

An estimated 1.5 million people gathered in Sydney to watch the fireworks, which included lightning and thunder effects that had never been seen in a display before.

Almost five million Australian dollars (about £2.4m) were spent staging the display.

There's also video of New Zealand's New Year's Eve fireworks display, which was held in Auckland.
