Selling your home using YouTube videos is "a complete waste of time" says property expert Mark Knowles.
According to the biography in his Luxury Property Blog, Knowles is the "world’s foremost authority on international luxury property".
Knowles' award for the worst YouTube property video (see video below) goes to Steve Lawson, an American real estate agent who never actually gets round to showing the house he is talking about.
But the latest case study in his growing collection of worst property videos on the web is a £5m luxury mansion in the south of the England.
The property, which includes an indoor swimming pool and claims to be the "largest house built in recent times in England", had generated more than 710,000 views on YouTube before it was removed by its user.
However, Knowles points out that the English mansion's popularity on YouTube was probably due to the title of the video – "Millionaires Mansion MTV Crib Style Home" – which attracted viewers of the popular MTV show in which celebrities show off their luxury pads.
Knowles says that the high number of views doesn't count for much, especially as the house has been on the market for more than a year.
Some of the commenters on YouTube were less than impressed with the house: "Hideous house it sucks for 5 mil my house is worth 700,000 and it's nicer than that."
