Muntadar al-Zaidi's actions have won him fans all over the world, especially on Facebook where more than 110,000 people have made their support known. Better known as the 'shoe-thrower', al-Zaidi may be languishing in jail but his internet star is still in the ascendancy. Shortly after the episode in which he threw two shoes, both missing his target President Bush during a press conference in Baghdad, an internet game called Sock and Awe was up and running. The game allowed people to hurl shoes at Bush, who leaves office next week. Sock and Awe was sold on auction website eBay for £5,215. The personal information listed on al-Zaidi's Facebook page states: "I like shoes, and throwing them. I hate President Bush! I do, however, like throwing shoes at him." His personal interests are listed as 'shoes'. Al-Zaidi was meant to stand trial for the shoe-throwing incident on 31 December 2008 but the hearing was delayed to allow the Central Criminal Court time to study the case. The TV journalist is charged with assault against a foreign head of state, which could carry a 15-year prison term. www.facebook.com
