Changes to the website for the Encyclopaedia Britannica will let the online community play more of a role in shaping the content of the site. Work on the new-look site has been going on since last summer and the aim is to get ordinary surfers more involved with the online version of the encyclopedia. However, the people behind the site are playing their cards close to their chest. "The work of creating the site is ongoing, and the features it will include are being introduced gradually in a series of new site releases. One of those releases, with some new features, will go live this week," said a statement on the Britannica.com blog. What we do know for now is that anyone who suggests an edit to an entry on Britannica.com that is accepted will be credited. "Other changes, including more sophisticated functionality, collaboration features, and robust editing tools, are in development for releases in the near future," Britannica.com said. www.britannica.com
