Vatican channel hits YouTube

The Vatican's official YouTube channel has gone live, offering short videos updating the faithful on the Pope's activities.

Vatican YouTube Channel

The Vatican has launched a YouTube channel containing reports on the most recent activities of Pope Benedict XVI.

Earlier this week, Web User reported that the Vatican YouTube channel was being prepared for launch.

Among the videos is a short clip where Pope Benedict XVI says the internet is a "new way to speak of God".

YouTube's Henrique de Castro said: "YouTube is a communications platform open to all, where users, institutions and content producers come together in a global meeting place.

"We are honoured that the Vatican has chosen to use the site to communicate with people across the world, and delighted that our community will have access to the words of the Pope on some of the most important issues facing the world today," he continued.
