BT has announced a Wi-Fi-based information service specifically aimed at Londoners and visitors to the capital.
A six-month trial of BT MyPlace will begin on 4 February and you can access it on any Wi-Fi-enabled mobile device or laptop when you are in a BT Openzone hotspot in the London Borough of Westminster.
BT hopes that it will enable visitors to London to find information about restaurants, activities, shops and other places of interest.
Content is provided by Time Out, Love Theatre, Kodak, Audible.com and LondonPass and is free, funded by on-site advertising and some paid-for downloadable content.
Though MyPlace will be a trial for six months, BT has no plans to make it a paid-for service.
Chris Bruce, general manager, BT Openzone said: "Unlike a classic city guide, BT MyPlace is personal to you. It doesn’t tie you to a fixed location and because it is delivered over Wi-Fi rather than 3G, offers a faster and more reliable internet connection that can be picked used on thousands of devices."
There are 194 BT Openzone hotspots in the London Borough of Westminster, according to the company.
