Google Labs has been busy turning out a new set of services for its email client Gmail, known as Google Mail in the UK, as well as Google Calendars.
Using software licensed from its rival Microsoft, Gmail users will now be able to synchronise their calendar and contacts list with their smartphone.
Google Snych is a two-way service that updates calendar and Gmail contacts on iPhone and Windows Mobile-based devices. Changes are constantly updated to match alterations people make on computers, or vice versa.

"Sync uses push technology so any changes or additions to your calendar or contacts are reflected on your device in minutes," Google Mobile engineer Bryan Mawhinney wrote in a posting on Google's mobile blog.
Gmail engineers have added a location feature to your email signature, so that recipients will now be informed of when, as well as where, an email was sent from.
To activate this feature, turn on Location in Signature from the Labs tab under Settings in your Inbox. Then go to your signature preferences and check the box next to 'Append your location to the signature'.
