Events are taking place around the world and on the web to mark the 200th anniversary of the birth of celebrated natural historian Charles Darwin. Today, 12 February, marks the 200th anniversary of Darwin's birth. This year will also see the 150th anniversary of the publication of On The Origin Of Species, on 24 November. The Darwin Day website has details of events happening all over the world to mark these significant events. The Natural History Museum is hosting a series of special events and has a Darwin exhibition which can be seen until 19 April, which will be the 137th anniversary of his death. Google has also marked the anniversaries with a special 'doodle' on its homepage illustrating the theme of evolution. All Darwin's published works have been available online since 2006. Last April, Darwin's private papers, including correspondence and even a collection of his wife's recipes, were put on the Darwin Online website. www.darwinday.org http://darwin-online.org.uk www.nhm.ac.uk www.google.co.uk
