You will be able to take 3D tours of Royal residences on the new-look Monarchy website, launched on Thursday by the Queen.

Monarchy website

The new-look Monarchy website was launched on Thursday, offering you the chance to have a look around several Royal residences. Visitors to the site will have the chance to explore Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle and other residences in 3D. However, this feature has not yet gone live at the time of writing as the site is experiencing high volumes of traffic. A Buckingham Palace press officer told Web User that efforts to increase the capacity of the site were ongoing and that the 3D tours would appear on the site as soon as possible. Other new features in the website include rarely seen Royal documents including extracts from Queen Victoria's journal. There is also a Royal diary that has been integrated with Google Maps so you can see where the Royals are due to attend official engagements. The new site was launched on Thursday by Her Majesty the Queen at an event attended by Tim Berners-Lee, commonly referred to as the 'father' of the World Wide Web. The first Monarchy website was launched in 1997 and then revamped in 2001. www.royal.gov.uk
