Vodafone bags HTC Magic Android phone

At the Mobile World Conference Vodafone has announced details of its exclusive contract to sell the new Android phone.

HTC Magic

Vodafone has clinched the deal to supply the next Google Android phone, the HTC Magic.

The Magic is the first Android-powered phone to be offered by Vodafone, which will have exclusive rights to sell it in Europe for a limited period.

The HTC Magic phone is a tablet-style device and is only the second device to run Android, Google's operating system, after the HTC G1, which T-Mobile is selling in the UK.

The HTC Magic has a 3.2in touchscreen display and features a trackball and navigational buttons.

It includes a variety of email options such as Google Mail and Google Talk for instant messaging as well as other standard Google applications such as Search and Maps.

The Magic will go on sale in the UK and in mainland Europe within the next few months, Vodafone announced at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona.

HTC, Google and Vodafone are all part of the Open Handset Alliance, a open source alliance which is building open standards for mobile phones.
