O2 is set to release its first hardware device, an electronic touchscreen gadget which it says could replace sticky notes on fridges in homes across the UK.
Called the Joggler, the 7in Wi-Fi device, about the size of a digital photo frame, combines several family oriented services.
It features standard applications such as a calendar, clock, weather, news, sports and traffic updates.
It can also be used to store and display photos - up to 200 - and videos or to play music.
The Joggler is a standalone device, which once connected to the broadband network, either wirelessly or through a cable, can also be used to send and receive text messages from any mobile in the UK for free.
It does not, however, have a web browser so you can not use it to surf the internet.
O2 envisages that the Joggler will become a key tool for families to communicate.
Alistair Johnston, Marketing Director, Telefónica O2 UK, said: "We’ve developed the O2 Joggler with today’s busy families in mind. It has been purpose built to help families better organise their lives."
O2 have also launched an online calendar to tie in with the launch of the Joggler. Similar to Google Calendar, it's simply called the 02 Calendar, and is free to use. The calendar can be updated remotely via text messages from any network.
The Joggler goes on sale in early April and costs £149.99. O2 Pay Monthly customers will be able to get the Joggler for free if taken instead of a mobile upgrade.
