Amazon.co.uk has started selling songs from chart-topping bands from 29p in a new promotion from its MP3 store.

The promotion applies to a 10-track selection from bands including Coldplay, The Killers and Morrissey.

"Customers have told us how much they like our £3 album offers and we were keen to do something that was equally as appealing on individual tracks," said Julian Monaghan, head of Music Buying at Amazon.co.uk.

Monaghan said that the 29p promotion will encourage more people to try out Amazon's MP3 store.

The other bands and artists in the 29p promotion include, Kings of Leon, Lady GaGa, The Prodigy, Kelly Clarkson, The King Blues, The Saturdays, and Eminem, Dr Dre and 50 Cent.

Amazon launched its long-awaited UK MP3 store at the end of last year.

All tracks on the retail site are available free of DRM (digital rights management) technology.
