Twitter intros new homepage features

Twitter has quietly introduced some changes to its interface including a new search field and a trends tab.

Web User: Twitter launches new homepage changes

Twitter has introduced new features to members' profile pages, including a search bar, making it easier to search the micro-blogging site.

The Twitter search bar sits at the top right of the homepage on the settings bar. At the moment it only searches within Twitter.

A 'trends' category has also been introduced, allowing people to keep up with the most popular Twitter conversation terms.

Follow celebrities on Twitter

'#Michael Jackson' is currently one of the most popular trends in Twitter conversation following the announcements of his 10 shows in London this summer.

It's not clear whether Twitter intends to develop its search function further and whether it will search the wider web as well as Twitter in the future.

Other changes Twitter have introduced include moving the Settings and Profile tabs underneath users' profile picture.

Facebook this week outlined new changes it would be introducing to its homepage.
