Firefox 3.1 beta 3 launched

The long-awaited third beta version of Firefox 3.1 has been launched after several delays.

It will be the last version of the browser to use the name Firefox 3.1, as beta 4 will be called Firefox 3.5 beta 4.

One of the changes you will notice is that you can now open a new tab by clicking on a green cross by the side of the last open tab and no longer have to use the File drop-down menu.

Other changes include tweaks to the Private Browsing Mode and the TraceMonkey Javascript engine.

To download the new version, go to the Help drop-down menu and select the Check For Updates option.
