UK goes crazy for Google Street View

Traffic to Google Maps in the UK has soared following the launch of the Street View mapping service. >> Google Street View: our first look Street-level imagery of 25 UK cities, including London, Leeds and Edinburgh, is now available in Google Earth and on Google Maps for Mobile. UK internet visits to Google Maps UK increased by 41 per cent on Thursday, with the website receiving one in every 250 UK internet visits. According to web-monitoring company Hitwise, the average visit time for Google Maps yesterday was 7 minutes 6 seconds, up from 5 minutes 28 seconds the day before. It also became the 20th most visited site overall - its highest ever ranking - and saw its page views up 76 per cent. Robin Goad, research director at Hitwise, said: "People obviously stayed on the site to play with Google's new application.
