FBI investigates X-Men web leak

With less than a month before its release the FBI is investigating how a copy of the next X-Men film made it on to the web.

The FBI has been called in to investigate an online leak of a nearly complete copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Starring Hugh Jackman, the film is believed to have been downloaded more than 100,000 times from file-sharing websites earlier this week.

The latest installment of the X-Men franchise is due to be released in less than a month's time in the UK, according to film website IMDb.

20th Century Fox confirmed the pirated copy had now been removed and the FBI informed.

Fox said: "The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Fox said the leaked copy, which goes on release on 29 April in the UK and 1 May in the US, was a "stolen, incomplete and early version".

Viewers said on internet message boards that green screens and wires attached to actors were still visible.
