The British Army has launched a recruitment campaign centred around an online game which puts you in the boots of a frontline soldier.

Called Start Thinking Soldier, participants have to test their skills in a series of challenges.

The first challenge, which will be aired tonight on Channel 4, sees British Army soldiers storm a weapons factory in the desert.

At the end of the advert, viewers are given three options: to burst in through the doors, to carry out an air strike or to blow a hole in the wall.

Participants are then invited to complete the task online following a command to "Start Thinking Soldier".

Lieutenant Colonel Eilean Cunningham said that the Army needs to recruit 15,000 quality soldiers each year.

Cunningham said the campaign, which will run alongside events where members of the public can meet soldiers, is an "innovative new way to engage with our target recruiting base".
