Perhaps it's a sign of the times or a clever publicity stunt but a pub in East London is offering drinkers the chance to barter for beer.
The Marksman Pub on Hackney Road in Shoreditch has posted a list of items on the community website Craigslist which it says it will take accept in return for beer.
Included in the list of items wanted is a hacksaw, a wireless doorbell kit, CDs for the jukebox and a Banksy painting.
The drinking public are invited to come along on the 22 April from 1900BST to 2100BST and try out the ancient art of bartering.
Some of the items listed in the 'Landlady's Fancy' on Craigslist are for the upkeep of the pub.
However, others, including party packs of false moustaches and a gift voucher for a haircut are not related to the premises.
"Feel free to try bartering for a beer with things off the list, but please remember that this is not an 'everybody wins type of game', nor is it a direct exchange based on the stated £ value," a message on the website reads.
"We have been known to refuse offers. Barter relies on demand and perceived value on both parts, as well as trust. It is an experience that transcends money exchange as we know it," the message continues.
The Marksman Pub will be Twittering during the event this evening.
