Vote for UK's best scenery

A website has been set up the to find the UK's most scenic spots by getting the public to rate pictures online.

Web User: Vote for UKs most scenic spots

Where do you think is the most scenic spot in England, Scotland and Wales?

You now have the chance to vote for your favourite through a website containing thousands of pictures of the country's most scenic places.

ScenicOrNot is modelled on the internet phenomenon HotOrNot.

The website presents visitors with snaps of locations drawn from a store of more than 200,000 images - one for every square kilometre of land in the UK.

You can rate each image on a scale of one to 10.

The backers of the project, Mysociety, described the exercise as a game, but with a serious side.

According to a statement on the site: "We want to gather a freely available nationwide dataset of scenicness. We want to use it for a secret project. No clue as to what the secret project could be has been revealed," it said.

"We're making sure each one (picture) is rated three times by different people, to help limit abuse, or the impact of people with terrible taste," the statement continued.
