Samsung has announced a 3.2in touchscreen mobile device that will run Google's mobile operating system, Android.

The i7500 is only the third Android-based phone to be announced, following the T-Mobile G1 and the HTC Magic.

It boasts a 5-megapixel digital camera and will connect to Wi-Fi networks as well as 3G and HSDPA mobile networks.

It has 8GB of memory built in and is coming to the UK in June 2009, the company said.

It will be available exclusively on O2's network in Germany, though it is not yet clear whether there will be a similar deal in the UK.

The company is rumoured to have another Android-based phone in the pipeline.
