Firefox 3.5 beta 4 launched

Mozilla has launched Firefox 3.5 beta 4, taking a further step towards releasing the full product.

Though officially it is for testing purposes only, you can now download the latest version of Firefox 3.5, previously known as Firefox 3.1, in 70 languages.

New features include improvements to the Private Browsing Mode and the TraceMonkey Javascript engine.

Mozilla first considered changing the name to Firefox 3.5 back in March, as the number of new features added make it seem "much more than a small, incremental improvement over Firefox 3", Mozilla said.

Firefox 3.1 beta 3 was the last version of the browser to carry the '3.1' monicker.

To update your version of Firefox 3.1, click on the 'Check for updates' option in the Help drop-down menu.

Having updated security and stability features in Firefox 3 only a week ago, Firefox 3 users are advised that there is another update, version 3.0.10, and that you should update as soon as possible.
