Virgin Trains has signed a deal with T-Mobile to provide high-speed internet access on one of its main routes.
The deal will bring Wi-Fi access to passengers on Virgin's fleet of Pendolino trains on the West Coast Main Line.
Passengers in first class, as well as T-Mobile customers, will be able to use the service for free when it is implemented this summer.
Virgin promises that Wi-Fi access will be available throughout the entire journey, from London Euston to Scotland, and the signal will remain intact even when passing through tunnels.
Standard-class passengers will be charged £5 per hour or £10 per day for a HotSpot pass.
The pass can be purchased during the journey using any Wi-Fi-enabled device.
Graham Leech, executive director for Virgin Trains, said the services was being rolled out in response to customer needs.
"We hope this latest improvement to our services will make travelling all the more enjoyable and productive for all our passengers," Leech said.
T-Mobile has deals to provide other train operators in the UK with Wi-Fi.
