Windows 7 'coming in October'

A leading technology manufacturer has reportedly confirmed that Windows 7 will be available much earlier than expected.

Computer manufacturer Acer has revealed that Windows 7 could be with us in October. Acer's UK managing director Bobby Watkins reportedly told technology news site Pocket-Lint that Windows 7 would launch on October 23. Windows 7 will be installed on the Z5600 PC, an all-in-one PC that Acer is to launch on the same day. However, Microsoft has not officially confirmed this. Earlier this week Microsoft's Leila Martine told Web User that Windows 7 was still "on track to be [released] no later than January 2010". Microsoft has always insisted that Windows 7 would be launched within three years of the launch of Windows Vista, which was unveiled in January 20007. Microsoft announced the availability of Windows 7 RC1 earlier this week.
