Spotify for Android shown off

Music-streaming service Spotify has shown off a version designed to work on Android-based mobile phones.

A version of the Spotify music-streaming service with offline capabilities for Android-based handsets has been demonstrated.

You can select the playlists you want available to you when you're offline so you can listen to your favourite music no matter where you are.

However, the Swedish company was keen to emphasise that the app was far from complete.

"This is just a demo and very much still a work in progress. And to head off the inevitable questions, we don’t have any more details on when it will be available," wrote Spotify's Andres Sehr.

Reactions from Spotify members have been generally positive so far.

"This looks very exciting - cannot wait until it is released. If you need a beta tester, let me know!" one wrote on the Spotify blog.

"I will definitely change phone from iPhone to Android if Apple says no to this app," wrote another.
