Opera Mobile 9.7 beta launched

A beta version of the mobile browser, Opera Mobile 9.7, has been launched for Windows Mobile-based handsets.

The browser includes the same Opera Turbo technology used in the Opera 10 beta, a desktop browser launched last week.

"There are other mobile browsers on the market that claim to be faster and more compatible on Windows-based phones, but I challenge users to take Opera Mobile for a test drive and discover a new standard for speed and compatibility," said John von Tetzchner of Opera.

Opera is probably best known for its mobile browsers, with Opera Mini used by more than 20 million people worldwide every month.
