Amazon pricing glitch hits MP3s

Amazon has confirmed that a mistake over the pricing of some items in its MP3 store meant that some surfers were able to pick up albums for as little as 29p.

Web User: Amazon enters the UK market with new music store

A mistake over the pricing of some items in Amazon's MP3 Store meant that some surfers were able to pick up albums for as little as 29p on Wednesday.

Albums by artists such as Coldplay, Kings of Leon and Metallica were sold at 29p, when they should have cost £7.99.

Single tracks on the site normally cost 59p, though Amazon has run promotions where a limited number of tracks were available for 29p.

"We can confirm that yesterday there was a pricing error on a small number of MP3 albums. This issue has been rectified," an Amazon spokeswoman said.

"Despite our best efforts, with the millions of items available on our website, pricing errors can occur," she continued.

Amazon did not go into further details of how the mistake was made or how many people were able to take advantage of the error.
