Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton posted a series of tweets on his Twitter account following an alleged altercation with members of the pop group the Black Eyed Peas in Toronto.

"I'm in shock. I need the police ASAP. Please come to the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel now. Please," Hilton tweeted in the early hours of the Monday morning.

Hilton has more than one million followers and alerted them following the alleged fracas with Will.i.am and other members of the band.

Hilton was in Toronto for the MuchMusic Video Awards.

"I was assaulted by Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and his security guards. I am bleeding. Please, I need to file a police report. No joke."

What is Twitter?

Police in Canada have charged the tour manager of the band with assault. Hilton carried on blogging throughout the night, saying he needed to document what was happening.

"Still waiting for the police. The bleeding has stopped. I need to document this. Please, can the police come to the SoHo Met Hotel."

In later tweets he said how shocked he was at the amount of people who contacted him to say he deserved what he got.

"I am honestly SHOCKED at the amount of people saying I deserved to be hit. Shame on you! NO. Violence is never the answer. NEVER."
